Do I need to configure my INTERWRITECRICKET® clickers?

No. INTERWRITECRICKET®s are not configurable. The INTERWRITECRICKET®s that are included in a Class Pack are specially configured at the factory and numbered accordingly.

How do I know which students have joined the Class?

When a Class is started, the yellow Status Bar at the bottom of the Session dialog will display the Class Name, one or more Join Codes in angled brackets (< >), and the Joined List. If you double-click on the Joined List button, you can view a list of the clickers that have joined. There is more than one Join Code on the yellow Status Bar. Which one do I use to join my Class? When a Class is started, there could be as many as three Join Codes displayed on the yellow Status Bar.

  • The 1-digit Join Code is used by RF Clickers to join the Class. Press the code key and press the Enter/Send key to send it.
  • The 2-digit Join Code is used by INTERWRITECRICKET®s. Press the two digits and wait for the green LED under the check mark to light up.
  • The IP address is used by CPS™ vClickers to connect to the Class.

What features are available to me when INTERWRITECRICKET® clickers are being used?

The Question Types supported by INTERWRITECRICKET® include:

  • Single Answer Multiple Choice (lettered or numbered),
  • True/False (dedicated T & F buttons on the 8-button INTERWRITECRICKET®), and
  • Survey (lettered or numbered).

How do I know if my Response has been received?

You will know the Response has been received when:

  • The green LED under the checkmark on the INTERWRITECRICKET® lights up. (If the red LED under the X lights up, it means the transmission was ‘Not Received’).
  • A box in the Response Grid changes color and displays your ID information. (The Response Grid, if enabled, displays below the Question).

How do I create my Roster?

There are two ways of setting up a Roster for the Class:

  • Pre-define your Roster by assigning each student in the Class a Clicker ID number. Each INTERWRITECRICKET® Clicker ID number is displayed on the top of the clicker.
  • Import a Roster from another source, such as WebCT or Blackboard.

How do I set up the Gradebook in version 4.x?

The Gradebook is created from the Roster. Simply select ‘Add Gradebook’ and select the Roster for the Class. It will automatically populate the new Gradebook with the student information from the Roster.

To add Marks to your Gradebook, go to the Session tab and double-click on the Session you want to mark. Click on the “Add Mark to Gradebook” button and specify the Gradebook to which you want to add the Marks from this Session.

Can INTERWRITECRICKET® be used in Anonymous mode?

Yes. Anonymous mode simply means that the instructor collects students’ Responses without the associated Clicker IDs and Student IDs that identify them. Anonymous mode is set when the RF Class is started.

Our University ordered a number of INTERWRITECRICKET®s. They were not in a Class Pack, so they were not labeled with a number on the top of the INTERWRITECRICKET®. How do I set up the Roster?

INTERWRITECRICKET®s in a Class Pack are specially configured for the Class Pack and have a label across the top of the unit with the assigned Clicker ID. All INTERWRITECRICKET®s have a Clicker ID. For those that are not configured for a Class Pack, the Clicker ID can be found on the back of the unit.

The Roster will have to be pre-defined. Either students will have to register their INTERWRITECRICKET®s when they sign up for the class, or the instructor will have to assign a INTERWRITECRICKET® to each student and enter the Clicker ID into the student’s profile. PRS can import .csv files from applications such as Blackboard, WebCT, IW PRS Web Registration, or any other program that can create a . csv file.

What is the Maestro and what is it used for?

The Interwrite Maestro or ‘Master Clicker’ is used by the instructor to control the Session remotely. Some of the Maestro’s features can be used only in PRS Sessions, while others can be used during PowerPoint Sessions.

For a list of button functionality and instructions for enabling the Maestro, please refer to the Maestro User’s Guide [.pdf].
